WHAT CAN I WRITE ABOUT MYSELF?

Previously, I shared with you my story of writing my memoir in 2019 as well as the replicable path that I followed to write an award-winning memoir. However, there are several types of books that you can write about yourself such as:

1. Autobiography: This type of book provides a comprehensive account of your life, including your experiences, achievements, challenges, and personal growth. It typically covers your entire life, from childhood to the present, and offers insights into your values, beliefs, and lessons learned.

2. Memoir: A memoir focuses on specific aspects or periods of your life rather than your entire life story. It may revolve around a particular theme, such as a transformative experience, a significant relationship, a career journey, or a specific time period. Memoirs often offer a more personal and reflective perspective on your life.

3. Travelogue: If you have traveled extensively and had unique experiences, you can write a travelogue about your adventures. Share stories, insights, and cultural encounters from your journeys, offering readers a glimpse into different places and cultures through your personal lens.

4. Self-help or Personal Development: If you have overcome challenges or developed expertise in a particular area, you can write a book that shares your knowledge and provides guidance to others. It could be about personal growth, career development, relationships, mental health, or any other subject you have expertise in.

5. Inspirational or Motivational: Share your personal story of overcoming adversity, achieving success, or finding inspiration in challenging circumstances. These types of books often resonate with readers due to its authenticity as it offers encouragement and motivation to others on a similar path.

6. Diaries or Journals: If you have kept a diary or journal throughout your life, you can compile and publish selected entries, offering readers a window into your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at different stages of your life. Most humans are voyeuristic in nature, desiring a look into the behind the scenes thoughts & actions of others.

Writing about yourself requires introspection and self-reflection. Hence, consider your motivations, the people you want to reach, and the impact you hope to make with your book. It can be a rewarding and therapeutic experience to share your story with others, especially when done the right way.
