Over a decade ago, a friend shared an inspiring poem with me.
It was so remarkable that I had it framed & gave it to him as a gift.
The poem said;
Those that are blessed with the power & the soaring swiftness of the eagle, who have flown before.
Let them go
For I too will travel
For I too will arrive, gallantly!
Given humans tendency to be voyeuristic, to focus on another’s path to the detriment of your own; it is important to consistently remind ourselves that the grass is not greener on the other side, the grass is greener where you water it.
Attention is a limited currency, you’d want to be sure how you spend it. When you focus most of it on another person, you’d barely have any to spend on yourself.
When you focus so much on the things that you don’t have, you would begin to lose sight of the things you do have.
Today, I urge you to take a deeper look & ask; What do I have? What makes me unique?
Did you know that the things you consider your disadvantages are also an advantage? It is about your perspective!!!
An athlete would never win a race or reach the finish line if they keep getting distracted.
Comparing your journey to another’s is a fruitless endeavor, a call best resisted. People can only present mere highlights of thier lives that can’t capture thier full experience.
Should you compare, let it be between your past and present. Gauge your growth, learning from missteps, assessing investments and their returns.
Remember, some lives mirror swift-growing maize, while others reflect the gradual but steady flourish of cocoa tree.
Above all, engrave this truth on your heart
This is your life, your unique race to run.
With steadfast determination, stride confidently on your path.
Remain unswayed by the tracks of others.
For in staying in your lane, running your race; You too will arrive, gallantly!!!
