Well wonder no more as I give an exposition on few of these formats
PDF is the short form of Portable document format.
It is the most popular format with Authors & book lovers alike.
They are known for their ease of use, ability to maintain a fixed layout & designs.
You can publish books in PDF on the selar store & as Amazon Paperback.
EPUB
This is also known as electronic publication.
It is widely supported by a variety of online book stores such as Amazon Kindle and Okadabooks.
Epubs are also easily read on these devices: Computers, Smartphones, Tablets & most E-readers.
EPUB files are designed in a way that the text & images reflow to fit all screen sizes.
To create your EPUB file, simple create or open your manuscript with Google Docs, thereafter download it as an EPUB file.
Easy right?
AZW and AZW3
This is also known as kindle files & Kindle Format 8(KF8) respectively.
AZW & AZW3 files contains digital right management(DRM) protection that allows them to be read on Kindles or devices with Kindle Apps.
These files can store complex content like bookmarks, highlights & adding short notes to the book while reading (Annotations)
MOBI
Otherwise known as Mobipocket eBook file, it was used as the first file format when Amazon launched Kindle.
Support for MOBI files was replaced by your AZW file format in 2011.
However, Amazon Kindle devices still uses the MOBI file structure. This has led to its popularity with devices that has low bandwith.
TXT
This is a simple text format that uses the file extension .txt.
It’s simplicity does not allow for any formatting beyond basic fonts and font styles.
TXT files does not have fixed layouts, DRM protection or any form of interactivity.
