How can you ensure you have a constant flow of ideas to write on?
I believe these strategies could work for you as they have worked for me:
DIVINE INSPIRATION
This is especially true if you are a Child of God; simply ask the holy Spirit to give you ideas to write on. The spirit of God is the fountain of all creative forces, hence in the best position to get your creative juices flowing. Sometimes, I might have a particular idea to write on, then I get inspired to write on something else. When I put pen to paper on that, the words be
READ
The saying that readers are leaders is more popular but there is another fact which is, Writers are Readers. To be a writer & be consistent at it, you need to read; this could be books, blog articles, magazines. Ensure you read far & wide, it stimulates your mind & gets your creative juices flowing; this translates to more frequent & better quality writing.
IDEATE & DOCUMENT
Cultivate the habit of deep & critical thinking; this will help you conceive different ideas to write on. However, ideas are fleeting and so easy to forget, so ensure you document the ideas that comes to you Immediately they do. You can do this on a virtual or physical notepad. Remember the faintest handwriting lasts longer than the sharpest memory, so document your ideas.
MIND YOUR BUSINESS
This is a life skill for every writer; you don’t have it? Then learn it. As a writer, you need quietness within to be able to create. Hence, you must make it a point of duty to stay away from everything & anyone that comes with chaos or drama. As much as you can, cultivate a quiet environment within & without! Again, jumping on every gossip & trend will deplete your energy as a writer, unless of course your writing genre is gossip. Have you noticed how there’s a new one every week??? When you spend time minding other people’s business, you would discover that you are unable to get your mind to focus on been excellent at your craft. You must not engage on every post you come across, you can simply ignore & keep it moving!!!
